Shit Robot, spent the 90s and early 00s is to document some of New York Citys most seminal moments in music. After moving to the city in 1992 from his native Dublin, Ireland, Lambkin served a stint as a resident DJ at the infamous club Save the Robots, co-founded Plant Records and the now-defunct Plant Bar where The Raptures Luke Jenner poured drinks and which UK magazine The Face called New Yorks coolest and loudest bar , used his. Marcus Lambkin born 1971 better known by the pseudonym Shit Robot is an Irish electronic musician and DJ. While working as a DJ in New York in 2000 he befriended James Murphy, later of LCD Soundsystem, and started a DJ partnership with him. Lambkin moved to rural Germany in 2004 and started producing his own music, with a number of releases on DFA Records from 2006. The album. In the case of Marcus Lambkin aka Shit Robot, that's just the education he's enjoyed: Now 39, the Irish-born producer started DJing in Dublin in the late 1980s before moving to New York in 1992 to absorb the acid house and disco bubbling up in the city's underground clubs. There he'd eventually link up with James Murphy and have a hand in creating DFA. This, in addition to Lambkin's history and pedigree, possibly gives From the Cradle to the Rave an inflated sense of promise- it's the kind of record you almost expect to be good. But as with any debut, it's important to try to strip away some of those associations and see what's actually under the hood. With fond remembrance for the days when acid house reigned supreme, 20-year veteran, pal of the DFA crew, and former resident DJ at the Save the Robots club Marcus Lambkin finally released his first album in 2010. Relying on scenesters like Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor, the Make-Up's Ian Svenonius, and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy and Nancy Whang also of Juan Maclean to keep the songs relevant, From the Cradle to the Rave is overtly retro, dating directly from the mid-80s to early 90s. Perhaps, this is a temporary station problem. Nestled in its sixty minutes is well over a decades worth of experience, genre, influence and flare. Shit Robot is not an example of this. While From The Cradle To The Rave may sound like something made by a team of barely legal bedroom producers sampling their N64s, the reality couldnt be further from the truth. shit robot is thirty-nine year old Marcus Lambkin. He grew up just outside Dublin, leaving in 1992 to pursue a career as a DJ in New York
