Guys, send an email to Mark over at Concord Music Group, they are sending out the replacement LP for Pretty Hate Machine. No jacket though, just the record in a paper sleeve.

first play of PrettyHateMachine album, Side A... Head like a Hole skipped only once shortly near the very end of the song. the rest of side A sounded flawless except maybe up to 3 small quick quiet pops. ...I guess I should consider myself extremely lucky to have a copy as almost-flawless as possible considering everyone else's comments.I'm using an AT-LP120-USB which apparently is a very good turntable, so if you think that matters, that's what I'm using.Side B sounded perfectly flawless to me. Excellent album! This remaster sounds fantastic!
Fountain_tenderness
None of the content in Halo I-IV was remastered, though.

my copy of PHM is annoyingly plaqued with skips and pops, how do I go about getting a replacement? Annoyed because the other discs sound great.
Cordantrius
I agree that this PHM sounds like the same master as the previous UMe release that was plagued with issues. My copy from this skips in the repeat of the first chorus of Head Like a Hole just like the other release does. Like others have said the 1.5xLP 180g remaster release is vastly superior anyway. Down in it: No defects and sounds good.Pretty Hate Machine: Disappointing that this master is still in use. I stopped it halfway through side A to play the 2010 remaster.Head Like a Hole: Track B1 has an imperfection before the first chorus that skipped on the first play through and mildly popped on following plays. Aside from that there were no problems and was enjoyable.Sin: No issues at all and sounds very clean.Overall I like this release. I got it after RSD for $60 and at $20 each for the playable LPs I'm happy. Even if PHM had been a different master that had no flaws I would still play the remaster instead. If there is ever a V-VIII(or more likely a V-VI & VII-XII) I will definitely be picking them up.
Seevinev
I just got a replacement PHM from the label, however that too still has skips, just not as bad. They will not replace my Head Like A Hole that skips as well. I'll have to remember that The Bicycle Music Company is not accountable for their products.

Same here. The replacement vinyl that I got from Bicycle Concord was so scuffed up that it looks like a used copy they bought at a flea market. Same pressing, same issues. They need to repress. This is unacceptable.
Kecq
Duly noted. I was thinking about pestering them for a replacement and to know that it won't be worth it is very helpful.
Adrielmeena
Can confirm, the Head Like a Hole track on PHM is rife with defects, making the track unplayable. Skips on other tracks, as well. Now, i seriously doubt this is any official sort of release that Trent had anything at all to do with. Noticeable, tiny divots in the record, definitely not the fault of the player.
Jelar
After receiving my replacement vinyl which was also flawed, I reached back out to them to let them know that the leftovers from the 2011 pressing of PHM that they used for this limited edition box set were flawed to begin with and that they should have repressed flawless records for the limited edition box set. Small though they maybe, they are responsive and say that they are working to make things right.
Anararius
I too see those divots. Poor manufacturing and probably too small of a company to deal with this responsibly.
Munimand
Just curious, do have your tonearm set to a heavy or a light weight? Trying to determine if that's maybe contributing to the issue that many are having...
Hbr
That's strange. I have no issues with my copy of PHM whatsoever. Sounds like a higher than acceptable percentage has issues though so contacting Bicycle Company may be the best course of action.
Slowly writer
He didn't approve the 2011 reissue so I guess this was out of his control as well
Gholbirdred
Could someone add the runout detail for each of the records?
Negal
PHM looks to be the exact master used for Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine.Same runout and everything.
Unsoo
Thanks for this. I was gonna buy this but i dont want a box with that pressing. This box should be mastered properly...not a cynical cash-in!
Uthergo
That explains all the skipping. Sucks that they just used leftover stock instead of repressing this to clear up defects.I haven't heard anything back from Bicycle either.
Burirus
Id like to see more pics of the jackets etc. Can someone post more pics? Is the HLAH jacket different than the original?
Banal
Trent "Face" pic is missing. Otherwise duplicate of 1st US release (minus label info. obviously).
Bine
My Pretty Hate Machine LP sounds great! No skipping here.
Painshade
What turntable are you using?
Todal
Just adding that the needle skips a lot during Head Like a Hole on my PHM record. The rest sounds fine and the Down In It single sounded great. Disappointed about PHM pressing though.
Cargahibe
Heard back yet? Can I get there contact info as well? You can send it in a PM if you want.
Enditaling
I contacted Bicycle about the widespread issue with PHM and the possibility of getting a replacement vinyl. Haven't heard back yet.
SiIеnt
So it isn't just my copy that skips like crazy on Head Like a Hole?
Bajinn
Nope. Widespread issue.
Bort
Although a nice idea the originals are not that hard to get hold of and as PHM has already been re-released in the last 5 years it would have made more sense to gets the rights to 'Purest Feeling' back and release a remastered version of that instead. The fans would have gone mental for it.
Arilak
My PHM sounds and plays fine. A little surface noise comes through on some of the quieter tracks, but over all I'd say it's a much better pressing than the UMe version. The singles at first listen seem pretty flawless.
Cordanara
My Pretty Hate Machine in this set skips like crazy. :-(
Jum
The 3 12" 's sound good. I don't have an original LP to compare it to however it sounds really thin and glassy. It seems that the grooves are pressed really tight which I could see that causing problems if your turntable isn't properly setup. I would have been satisfied if the album would have been pressed over two (or even four) Lps. It's a shame the label didn't do it the right way. Another missed opportunity ????????
Ishnsius
Was pretty excited about this so I got it. $70 seemed like a lot especially for 3 120g records and only 1 180g (being the actual album) but I went ahead and bought it. I put it on after a quick cleaning and it skipped like 8 times during Head Like a Hole. Pretty pissed now. I'm going to contact the label to see if there is any way of rectifying this issue.
FailCrew
Same experience here. Cleaned, played, skipped like crazy. Upon close inspection, it looks like there are divots in the vinyl. Hugely disappointed. Let me know if the label works on getting you a replacement. I've contacted them as well.
Hugighma
RSD's website and numerous other sites are reporting that this is using the original masters and not the controversial 2010 remaster. I just listened to Down In It and it sounds par for the course so if somebody already owns the pre-2010 Pretty Hate Machine or wants to risk the problematic UMe 2011 release this may not be worth it. For those who don't have any of these in their collection and want them without paying out the nose this may be their best chance.
Drelalak
Sounds good. I'm no expert but no pops or noise. Box set has no added goodies for incentive. Just the box. PHM comes with two sided page version of original booklet with credits and lyrics. I felt the price is a little steep but I was still pretty excited to get it none the less.
Dori
Any word on the sound and general pressing quality of this release? The boxset seems cool, but considering I can't seem to find any info on it being officially sanctioned by Trent, and how bad the last 2010 TVT pressing of the album was, I'm not sure if it'll be worth the money.

and the sales have begun...starting at $120? no thanks. originals bought used VG+ to NM for the LP and the 3 12"s should run about 40-60$ + shipping. i have yet to see if this box set has something special included like a book to make it a true collector's item. the box itself doesn't do it for me.i have the 2011 "UMe" repress. from the comments/reviews of this release, i guess i'm lucky to have a good one...no skips with some expected noise but not distracting. by no means is it a great or "audiophile" press but for the 12$ new i paid, it is what i expect. i would say it is just a bit inferior than my [now original] copy of HLAH 12". i don't think the TVT original pressing were all that fantastic to begin with. such a shame [as mentioned in other posts] that the 2010 remaster was spread over 3 sides [!] on 2 LPs @ 33rpm...and spliting up "santified" and "something i can never have". ugh. my 2010 cd copy is fine for the car...the 2011 vinyl repress is passable for casual home listening.that being said, i would wait to buy this if it ever drops below 75$ even though i am quite tempted. [on reissues in general, the positive of buying new, even if not at the highest quality standards, is that you're the first owner and not have to be concerned with what kind of player and type of storage a used record was exposed to. very frustrating when buying a NM 20, 30, 40 year old copy of whatever from a reputable online seller and it sound like garbage because of poor storage [type of inners/temp] and/or groove damage from a poorly aligned or crappy player. i don't blame the seller. it's part of the game.]
Goldcrusher
Apparently, Bicycle is owned by Concord Music, and they're stated to have started out with the 2010 PHM reissue as their first release. Think I'll take my chances and wait to see if there are any words on the sound/pressing quality first.
Ericaz
me too. i am also skeptical at the fact that it is the first NIN release/reissue not under TVT/Universal/Null/Columbia etc... Concord Music Group and Bicycle Music Co seem new to NIN?It isn't too hard to find originals of the 12"s and PHM at reasonable prices btw.
BeatHoWin
I wonder if it's a new pressing at all or just a repackaged 2010 pressing.
