Black Narcissus is a 1947 British psychological drama film written, produced, and directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, and starring Deborah Kerr, Kathleen Byron, Sabu, David Farrar, Flora Robson, Esmond Knight, and Jean Simmons. The title refers to the Caron perfume Narcisse noir. It's pretty laughable that someone would complain that this album sounds dated. That is pretty much the whole idea these types of songs are going for. The abstract styles of Detroit Techno still capture a futuristic sound that is very enjoyable 30 years today. Throwback styles are used in all kinds of music. I think the Drexciyan style will never get old, just the context of the style will change as new fans make they're own interpretation. I think this album is great and the artists that make old school detroit electro are actually pushing the boundaries still since these styles are experimental in nature.

Pretty disappointing, I have to say. This is typically why electro and techno don't progress: people content with copying earlier records made by pionneers, adding pretty much nothing new to the equation. I hear no ambition to propose anything new, to invent, to surprise the listener, to experiment (but then they might not be signed on prestigious labels, I know.) If you've heard early drexciya before, you don't need this.
